Where the name comes from

Solen is the sun. Unity is the part we had to build.

Solen Unity is named for the ten minutes after a downpour, when the light comes back and everything smells like wet stone. That is the moment we design for — not the storm itself, but being fine right through it and still fine afterwards.

The unity half is less poetic and more practical. Rainwear fails at the joins: the seam that was stitched but never taped, the zip that is waterproof except at the ends, the boot where the upper meets the sole. A garment is only as dry as its weakest join. So we build every piece as one sealed system rather than a set of parts that happen to be sewn together.

How we got here

It started with a jacket that lied

Solen Unity began with a simple frustration: a “waterproof” shell that leaked at the shoulder seams in its second season, an umbrella that inverted on its first real gust, and a pair of boots that rubbed a hole through a sock in a week. All three were sold as if they would last. None of them did.

So we started again from the specification sheet. We picked a hydrostatic-head rating we would not go below (30,000 mm), insisted on taped seams and bonded zips on every single garment rather than only the flagship, and refused to ship a boot that had not been walked in for a full wet week first. Then we cut the range down to six pieces — two jackets, two boots, two umbrellas — because a small range is a range you can actually stand behind.

We are a small team. We design in-house, work with a short list of audited partner factories, and answer our own email. That last part matters more than it sounds: when the person who chose the fabric is the person reading your warranty claim, the fabric tends to get chosen more carefully.

A rating printed on a label tells you nothing on its own. We seal every seam, tape every zip and test every piece in real rain before it ships.

Made to be repaired, not replaced

Every product carries a five-year guarantee, and we keep replacement zips, gussets and canopy parts in stock so a good piece outlives the average by years.
